Clean Clothes Campaign

biz works with the Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC) to advocate for higher global standards for working conditions and manufacturing processes in the textile industry.

90% of the clothes stocking German stores are produced by women in Asia, Eastern Europe, and Central America where inhumane working conditions still prevail.

All people across the world, however, are negatively affected by the current social, economic, and ecological impact of textile industry practices.

Raw materials for clothes are treated with an excessive number of chemicals that present a danger to the health of both manufacturers and consumers. Workers, sewers, salespersonnel, and customers are all at risk.

biz, together with the Clean Clothes Campaign, calls for manufacturers to comply with minimum ethical standards for the treatment of their employees by:

• recognizing unions and collective negotiation
• providing a safe and healthy working environment
• eliminating sexual discrimination and sexual assault in the workplace


• eliminating child labor
• eliminating compulsory overtime
• paying liveable wages
• providing job security in the form of contracts
• eliminating harsh chemicals and manufacturing procedures that endanger workers

We support healthy and eco-friendly manufacturing processes, and call for the establishment of local, independent regulating institutions to enforce these standards.

Biz coordinates the local active group for CCC.
