Fair Trade

The Fair Trade initiative supports under-represented businesses in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. These producers are predominately small-farm families and artisans.

Fair Trade guarantees these producers:

• a direct role in business transactions
• prices that allow for a decent standard of living
• incentives for environmentally sustainable production
• access to consulting and backing resources

Many Fair Trade products are marked by a Fair Trade seal.
Products with a Fair Trade seal can be found in world stores, specialty stores, supermarkets, and discount retailers.
All products found in world stores ("Weltläden") are Fair Trade.

To date, Fair Trade alternatives are available in food products such as coffee, tea, chocolate, rice, bananas, honey, spices, sugar, and more. Non-food items including sports balls, flowers, and textiles are also available with the Fair Trade seal.

Biz works to support Fair Trade by organizing and offering:

• programs such as lectures, exhibitions, and workshops
• literature and other media in our information center
• teaching materials and visual aids for classroom learning
